Opportunities at ITE

Positive change is ignited by people eager to share their skills and contribute meaningfully to the lives of others. We’re always on the lookout for passionate individuals to join our team of volunteers. Whether you’re interested in program management, operations or tutoring, there’s a role for you at ITE.

We also accept applications on a rolling basis for the following roles:

  • Subject tutoring

  • Scholarship application support, mentoring & tutoring

  • Scholarship resource creation

All volunteers must have, or be able to obtain, a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Join us to help make a difference in the community.

Why volunteer with ITE?

  • Purpose-driven work: Make a real difference by creating opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds.

  • Innovative culture: Be part of a youth-led, dynamic team committed to finding new solutions to educational inequality.

  • Flexible opportunities: We offer a range of roles, from volunteer positions to leadership opportunities, so you can contribute in a way that works for you.

  • Help disadvantaged students get into university: Help run an innovative education technology start-up and be involved in Australia's first ever scholarship writing support program.

  • Expand your professional network: Join a community of leaders and get access to exclusive networking opportunities. After volunteering with us for 1 year, you’ll earn a LinkedIn Badge.

  • Enhance your CV: 95% of recruiters in Australia regarded a history of voluntary work as valuable (Volunteering Australia, 2022).

  • Subject tutoring

Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with high-school students via online lessons to make a positive impact on their education journey. Whether you excel in maths, languages, humanities, English or science, your support will help learners build confidence and improve academic performance.

No previous tutoring experience is necessary. However, you must have achieved a Band 5 or 6, or equivalent, in the subject you’ll be tutoring. Preference will be given to recent (past 5 years) NSW high-school graduates.

Time commitment: 1 hour per week or fortnight, per student

  • Scholarship support

Scholarship & careers mentors are people currently or recently (past 5 years) enrolled in an Australian university who are passionate about helping students craft and navigate scholarship applications to create educational equity. You will be paired with one or more students for online lessons and consultation to help answer their queries, find scholarships, advise on applications and provide career advice. This is a unique opportunity to work 1:1 with students to help them access life-changing financial aid in a low-effort arrangement.

Time commitment: 1–4 hours per month for 2 months, per student

  • Resource development

Scholarship resource contributors are past scholarship recipients enrolled at Australian universities and looking to share tips and insights from their own experience on how to navigate the scholarship process, craft effective applications and succeed in acquiring financial aid. Successful applicants will be featured in ITE’s scholarship writing resources, which will be distributed across Australia.
