Safia Karim
HEAD TUTORING OFFICER
Safia Karim is a Social Work student at the University of New South Wales who is deeply passionate about empowering others and exploring different worldviews. She was drawn to ITE because of her own background as a child of Bangladeshi immigrants as well as her upbringing in Western Sydney, both of which greatly inspire her towards helping other students flourish academically. She understands the struggle of inequitable learning and how demotivating this can be. In her role as a lead tutoring officer she strives to assist students by reducing the barriers to education which may prevent them from realising their potential.
Safia truly believes in the power of simple tools to create meaningful and impactful change, and she cares deeply about supporting her local community. A strong advocate for social justice, she has previously participated in fundraising efforts for global social causes.
In her spare time, Safia is a big fan of sitcoms (even has a tier list) and also has a massive sweet tooth! Her interests also involve cooking and learning about world history and cultures.
