Soyal James - Grants Officer

I'm a passionate advocate for new migrants and public health, with a strong focus on marginalized communities. Growing up in South Australia with an immigrant background, I've always been dedicated to supporting newcomers. This led me to found the South Australian Immigrant Foundation, a nationally recognised charity that mentors and assists new migrants as they transition to life in Australia. I've completed volunteer work with the Onkaparinga Youth Committee and the Young Diplomats Society, where I've been able to contribute to youth development and international relations initiatives. After finishing high school, I took a gap year to serve in the Royal Australian Navy and was commissioned as a naval officer. This experience not only honed my leadership abilities but also deepened my commitment to serving the community.

Following my naval service, I received a scholarship from Where There Be Dragons to attend a cultural program in Nepal for three months, which enriched my understanding of global cultures and the challenges faced by minority populations. Currently, I am a student at the University of Adelaide, studying Microbiology. My academic focus is complemented by a keen interest in public health issues, especially those affecting marginalized communities. I am committed to using my education and experiences to advocate for and implement effective public health solutions that address disparities and improve the well-being of underserved populations. My dedication to community service has also led me to my role at Inspire Tomorrow Education. As a Grants Officer, I aim to use my skills and experience to help secure the necessary funding to achieve the organization’s goals. I strongly believe in the transformative power of education and mentorship and am eager to contribute to the sustainable growth and impactful success of Inspire Tomorrow Education and its programs.
